At Oakthorpe Dental we are trying to strike the perfect balance between maintaining optimal cross infection control and reducing unnecessary plastic waste.

Even though all our clinical waste is incinerated, there is still a considerable impact to the environment.

This is an ongoing challenge we are committed to and we had a recent practice meeting to collaborate our ideas.

One change we have made is to keep our mouth rinses to one side and offer this only at a patient’s request. This has significantly reduced our use of plastic cups. We have also started selling eco-friendly and sustainable bamboo toothbrushes, which are fully
recycled.
