Antibiotics are used to prevent and treat some types of bacterial infections.
Antibiotic resistance happens when bacteria mutate and become resistant to the antibiotics used to treat infections. The more antibiotics are used, the more chance there is for bacteria to develop resistance.
Key facts about antibiotic resistance.
Antibiotics are now no longer routinely used to treat infections.
Both Private and NHS health organisations across the world are trying to reduce the use of antibiotics, especially for health problems that are not serious.
We do take dental infections very seriously and while antibiotics are used sometimes, it is not always a simple answer. It is always best to have an examination so a long-term plan can be formulated.

Warm regards,
Your Oakthorpe Dental Team
I would definitely recommend your practice to others; it is one of the best I have used. Siddhika in particular is both very knowledgeable, trustworthy and excellent with patients. She is the best dentist that my son has seen. He is 3 years old and was previously scared of sitting in a dentist’s chair by himself. He did this for the first with Siddhika because she made him feel at ease, and she gave him 2 stickers and a balloon on which she drew a smiley face. He is very attached to it and has said several times that he really likes her and will return. Thank you very much!
