Can dental products be recycled?
At Oakthorpe Dental we always advocate the efficient use of electric toothbrushes and quite understandably many patients have questioned whether they can be recycled.
We agree that toothbrushes, empty toothpaste tubes and electric toothbrush heads are difficult to recycle. To facilitate the recycling of these products we have started a collection of the following items in our practice.
How can I recycle my dental products?
All items must be clean and dry before being placed in our recycling box. The box will be placed in reception and you are welcome to drop your items off at any point during opening hours.
We will then take these to a drop off point where they will be collected for recycling. Once collected, the oral care products and packaging are separated, cleaned and extruded into plastic pellets to make new recycled products.
Points are given to the drop off location for all waste recycled and these are converted into charitable donations.

I was very happy with my visit to the practice last week, and would certainly recommend it to friends and family.
The practice premises were calm and pleasant, it was very helpful to be able to park just outside.
The dentist and hygienist were professional and friendly, and gave me confidence in their judgement, while the receptionist was polite and efficient and dental assistants seemed to be doing a good job.
I was pleased to be advised about keeping my gums and teeth clean with interstitial brushes, and also to be able to buy replacement heads for my electric toothbrush in the practice.
